Overview
An ottoman asks more of the wood — the king-width span already stresses every joint, and a gas-lift base adds load and moving parts. The MDF and hollow-metal ottomans that fill Irish showrooms sag and rattle within a year for exactly that reason. Heava's king ottoman is solid hardwood throughout — dense, properly jointed, and designed in Ireland to lift smooth and stay silent for decades.

Solid hardwood, properly jointed — it stays square and silent for decades, not the year or two you get from flat-pack. The kind of frame you pass on.
Why a solid wood king ottoman bed
Solid hardwood — oak-comparable in density — carries the mattress, you, and a full bed's worth of storage without flexing. Read more about the Hevea Maple hardwood, compare it with the standard king frame, or lie on one at our Monkstown, Dublin showroom.

Common questions
How much storage is under a king ottoman bed?
A king ottoman (150×200cm) lifts to reveal a large full-base cavity — noticeably more than the double thanks to the extra width and length. It comfortably swallows several suitcases, spare bedding, duvets and bulky seasonal items in one place, making it a genuine alternative to a small wardrobe for a couple’s overflow storage.
King ottoman or super king ottoman — which should I choose?
The king (150×200cm) suits most double bedrooms and gives two people ample room plus generous storage. Step up to the super king (180×200cm) only if your room is large and you want maximum width and the biggest storage cavity. If floor space around the bed is limited, the king is the more practical fit while still storing plenty.
Is the king ottoman base really solid wood?
Yes. Unlike almost every ottoman on the market — fabric-upholstered over MDF and steel — this base is 100% solid Hevea Maple hardwood, including the lifting frame itself. No MDF, no veneer. Designed in Ireland in Natural or Walnut, it’s built to take the repeated load of the gas-lift mechanism without the sag or wear of a composite base.
What room size and lift clearance does a king ottoman need?
Plan for a bedroom of around 3×3m or larger so you can walk both sides and open the base freely. The gas strut lifts from the foot end, so keep the lifting side clear of furniture. Delivery includes full in-room assembly Ireland-wide within 7–14 days, so the frame and mechanism are set up and tested for you.
