Bed Sizes, Drawn to Scale
Irish and UK bed sizes can be confusing — King isn't the same as EU King, and Emperor barely exists outside Ireland. Tap any size below to see it drawn to scale, who fits, and the room it needs.

How to choose your size
Two things decide your size: how many people sleep in the bed, and how much floor space the room can spare around it. As a rule, leave at least 60–70 cm clear on any side you walk past, plus room for doors and wardrobes to open. The diagram above shows the recommended room footprint for each size so you can sense-check it against your room before you buy.
Irish & UK vs European sizes
Irish and UK sizes share the same measurements — a King is 150 × 200 cm (5'0"). A EU King is 160 × 200 cm — 10 cm wider — so it takes continental bedding, not UK bedding. Emperor (200 × 200 cm) and Grand Emperor (215 × 215 cm) are large square sizes you'll mostly find in Ireland. If you're replacing an existing frame, measure your current mattress before choosing.
