Super king vs king — is the difference noticeable?
Very. A super king (180×200cm, 6ft) is 30cm wider than a UK king (150cm) — about another single’s width shared between two people. Length is the same 200cm, good for tall sleepers. Couples who feel a king is still a little tight, or who share with a child or pet, notice the extra space immediately, provided the room can take it.
What size room does a super king need?
At 180×200cm the frame is substantial, so plan for a bedroom of roughly 3.5×3.7m to keep walking space and a locker on each side. In a smaller room it can be done by placing the headboard on the longest wall, but you’ll lose easy access to one side. In average Irish bedrooms, a king usually sits better.
Super king vs emperor — which is bigger?
An emperor (200×200cm) is 20cm wider than a super king (180×200cm) and near-square. A super king is the largest size that fits most normal-to-large bedrooms; an emperor really needs a big room. For most couples wanting maximum space without a room rebuild, super king is the practical ceiling. Mattresses are also far easier to source in super king.
