Solid Wood Bed Frames
A solid hardwood bed frame is one of the few things you buy once. Heava frames are built entirely from solid hardwood — real timber, properly joined, that stays silent and square for decades.
A solid wood bed frame is built entirely from real hardwood — no MDF, veneer, particleboard or hollow steel. Heava frames are 100% solid Hevea Maple, designed in Ireland, in eight sizes from single to grand emperor, each in a Natural or Walnut finish.
Most beds sold in Ireland are veneered MDF, particleboard or thin steel. Heava frames aren't. Every one is genuine hardwood — Hevea Maple — designed in Ireland and built to outlast the room around it. Real wood, well jointed, doesn't develop the sway and squeak that cheap frames get within a year.

Why solid Hevea Maple
Every frame is Hevea Maple (rubberwood), upcycled at the end of the tree's latex-producing life — a premium, genuinely sustainable hardwood that rivals oak for strength. It's dense and dimensionally stable, so joints stay tight instead of loosening like MDF or hollow metal. Read the full story on what Hevea Maple is and why it's one of the most sustainable hardwoods you can buy.
Need under-bed storage?
Double, king and super king are also made as gas-lift ottoman beds — same solid Hevea Maple, sturdy enough to carry the storage without the squeak of a flat-pack ottoman. See the solid wood ottoman beds.

Common questions about solid wood bed frames
What is a solid wood bed frame?
A solid wood bed frame is built entirely from natural timber — no MDF, veneer, particleboard or hollow steel. Heava’s are 100% solid Hevea Maple hardwood, properly jointed, so they stay square and silent for decades instead of loosening and squeaking within a year like composite frames.
Is Hevea Maple a good wood for a bed frame?
Yes — it’s a genuine hardwood at around 980 lbf on the Janka scale, comparable to ash and harder than the pine in most budget “solid wood” frames. It’s dense and dimensionally stable, so joints stay tight and the frame stays silent even at king and super king widths.
What size bed frame should I choose?
Single (90×190cm) suits children, teens and guest rooms; double (135×190cm) is Ireland’s standard couple’s size; king (150×200cm) adds width and length; super king (180×200cm) gives the most space. Each size page has detailed mattress-fit and room-size guidance to help you decide.
Solid wood or MDF — is it worth the difference?
Solid hardwood costs more up front but it’s a buy-once frame. MDF and veneered frames develop sway and squeak within a year or two as the composite loosens under load, while properly jointed solid timber stays tight and quiet for decades — so you replace it far less often.
Do you deliver and assemble bed frames across Ireland?
Yes — free delivery and full in-room assembly anywhere in the Republic of Ireland, typically within 7–14 days, with all packaging taken away. We bring the frame in and build it in your room; you just supply the mattress.
Are Heava bed frames designed in Ireland?
Yes — every frame is designed in Ireland and built from solid Hevea Maple hardwood, with a Natural or Walnut finish. You can see and feel the build in person at our Monkstown, Dublin showroom.
