Overview

Storage matters most where space is tight — the double is the size that ends up in box rooms, spare rooms and apartments, exactly where a flat-pack ottoman's gas struts and hollow frame start to stick and rattle soonest. Heava's double ottoman is solid hardwood throughout — properly jointed and designed in Ireland to lift smooth and stay quiet for decades, not a season.

Dimensions

Double — 135 × 190cm. Takes any standard mattress this size.

Delivery & assembly

Free delivery and assembly anywhere in Ireland — we bring it in, build it in your room, and take the packaging away. You just add the mattress.

Built to last

Solid hardwood, properly jointed — it stays square and silent for decades, not the year or two you get from flat-pack. The kind of frame you pass on.

Why a solid wood double ottoman bed

Solid hardwood — oak-comparable in density — keeps the storage smooth and the frame silent even at the most space-conscious size. Read more about the Hevea Maple hardwood, compare it with the standard double frame, or lie on one at our Monkstown, Dublin showroom.

Common questions

How much can you actually store under a double ottoman bed?

A double ottoman (135×190cm) opens onto a full-footprint under-bed cavity — roughly enough for two large suitcases, a spare duvet set, out-of-season clothing and pillows combined. It’s the most storage you’ll find in a bed built for a box room or spare room, turning otherwise dead floor space into a wardrobe’s worth of hidden capacity.

Is a double ottoman worth it in a small or box room?

This is exactly the size it’s made for. In a box room, spare room or apartment where a chest of drawers or wardrobe would crowd the floor, the ottoman puts that storage under the mattress instead. You reclaim the walls and floor while keeping a full double sleeping surface, which is often the difference between a usable room and a cramped one.

How is this different from a standard double bed frame?

Same 135×190cm sleeping size and same 100% solid Hevea Maple hardwood, but the whole base lifts on a gas strut to reveal storage underneath. The standard double sits on fixed slats with only the open gap beneath. Choose the ottoman if storage matters more than price; choose the standard double if you’d rather keep the bed lower and simpler.

How much ceiling and side clearance does the lift need?

The base pivots up from the foot end, so you mainly need room to stand beside the bed and lift — no overhead clearance issue as with a wall-mounted unit. Allow enough space at one long side to swing the base fully open. In a tight box room, position the bed so the lifting side faces the door or the open floor.
